Fitted mine.works perfect. No warnings or lights on dash. Finally I have this annoying problem sorted.or I think I have. Can't figure out for sure if the passenger air bag will deploy in a smash. I wonder this because now if my passenger does not put their seat belt on, car does not prompt / alert for passenger to put on seat belt (like it used to before).
That's obvious enough as I cut the seat sensor cable and joined the bypass unit instead. Is the bypass unit telling the car that there IS a passenger seated ALL the time and they ALWAYS have their seat belt on!?
I think the answer to this question is YES.hope I never need to find out. Generally it is the passenger seat mat that's not working. Cs 1.6 Cheats Cd Hack. Had in my e39, have it in my e61 and according to my friendly BMW dealer it's a common occurrence in most modern BMWs and also Minis. The mat is very prone to malfunctioning. The bypass unit will trick your system in thinking there is always someone in the passenger seat. The funny thing is that the mat is installed to prevent the passenger airbag deploying if there is no-one in the passenger seat.
The idea behind the bypass is that if you have an accident seriously enough to trigger the airbag, you can probably write off the car anyway Good luck, Liam. I had this problem about 9 months ago and got stealers to look at when in for a service. They advised that when they went to look at it after carrying out the service that the warning did not come up, and they advised this can happen as they reset the system when performing work on car. So car has been fine now until this weekend and message has come up again. Does anyone know if there is a way to 'reset the system' to clear the warning (or any warning for that matter) as im fairly sure this a one off message that is then remembered, and i dont want to have to pay bmw to 'look at it' and find there is still nothing wrong.
